Privacy settings

Helps us understand visits, new organisers and subscriptions using analytics and Google advertising cookies. On by default; change it here at any time. Your choice is saved for this browser. Personalised ads stay off, and your account works either way.

This Privacy Policy explains how The Band Planned ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our Service. We are committed to handling your data transparently and in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information We Collect

Account information: Your name, email address, and password (stored securely and never in plain text).

Band information: Band or act name, description, location, genres, and the members you invite.

Content you upload: Files, setlists, recordings, artwork, expenses, social content, and any notes you add.

Usage data: How you interact with the Service, such as pages viewed and events RSVP'd, used to improve the product.

Payment data: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details — Stripe handles that securely.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and your act's shared workspace.
  • To process subscription payments and send billing receipts.
  • To suggest gigs and venues tailored to your act's location and genres.
  • To send service notifications, such as RSVP reminders and invite confirmations.
  • To provide support and respond to your feedback.
  • To improve and develop the Service over time.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following ways:

  • Within your band or act: Information you add to a band (gigs, practices, files, availability) is visible to the other members of that band.
  • Service providers: Trusted third parties that help us operate, such as Stripe (payments) and our hosting provider. They are bound by confidentiality and may only use your data to provide services to us.
  • Legal requirements: Where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

Optional measurement

Analytics and ad measurement are on by default. When enabled, we use analytics and Google advertising cookies to understand visits, new organisers and paid subscriptions. Campaign tags and Google click identifiers may be linked to your account and payment records for attribution. We send Google an opaque conversion identifier and, for a first paid subscription, its value and currency. This measurement does not send your band content or payment card details to Google, and ad personalisation remains disabled.

You can turn measurement off without affecting your account or subscription. Use the “Analytics and ad measurement” switch at the top of this page or under My profile → Privacy settings to change your choice at any time. Your choice is remembered in this browser until you change it or clear this site's browser data; local campaign attribution expires after 30 days. Turning measurement off stops future optional measurement and removes local attribution and accessible Google advertising cookies. Existing account and billing records remain subject to the retention terms below.

4. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission and access controls. No method of storage is fully secure, but we work to protect your data and never store payment card details on our servers.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain it.

6. Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you from within the Service or by contacting us. You can also cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time.

7. Third-Party Links

The Service may display links to external venues, events, or websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Data Transfer

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure your data is protected in line with this policy and applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact
